Gen Z: Ruth 4
So Boaz rolled up to the gate, plopped down, and boom, the dude he was talking about showed up. He was like, "Yo, come chill here." And the guy turned and sat down, no cap.
He grabbed ten of the city’s OGs and said, "Take a seat, fam." And they sat down, vibing.
Boaz told the dude, "Naomi's back from Moab and she’s selling some land that used to belong to our bro Elimelech."
"I wanted to let you know, buy it before everyone else and the elders. If you wanna redeem it, go for it; if not, just tell me, so I know. You're the only one who can redeem it, and I’m next in line." The guy was like, "Bet, I’ll redeem it."
Then Boaz said, "When you buy the land from Naomi, you also gotta snag Ruth, the Moabite, the wife of the deceased, to keep his name alive in his fam."
The dude replied, "Nah, I can’t redeem it for myself, or I’ll mess up my own inheritance. Just take my right for yourself; I can’t do it."
Back in the day in Israel, this was how they did stuff: a man would take off his shoe and give it to his neighbor as proof. That was the vibe.
So the guy told Boaz, "Just buy it for yourself." And he took off his shoe, periodt.
Boaz said to the elders and everyone around, "You’re all witnesses today that I bought everything that belonged to Elimelech, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from Naomi."
Plus, I got Ruth, the Moabite, Mahlon’s wife, to be my wifey, to keep the name of the dead alive in his inheritance, so his name doesn’t get lost among his peeps. You all are witnesses today.
The people in the gate and the elders were like, "We’re witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who comes into your house like Rachel and Leah, who built up Israel. Do your thing in Ephratah and be famous in Bethlehem, fr."
"And may your house be like Pharez’s house, whom Tamar had for Judah, from the seed the Lord gives you through this young woman."
So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wifey. When he went in to her, the Lord blessed her with a baby, and she gave birth to a son.
The women were like, "Bless up, Naomi! The Lord didn’t leave you without a kinsman today, and his name’s gonna be famous in Israel."
"He’s gonna be a restorer of your life and a vibe for your old age, 'cause your daughter-in-law, who loves you more than seven sons, gave birth to him."
Naomi took the baby, laid him in her arms, and became his nurse, big mood.
The neighbor ladies named him, saying, "A son’s been born to Naomi!" They called him Obed; he’s the father of Jesse, who’s the father of David.
These are the generations of Pharez: Pharez had Hezron, that’s lit.
Hezron had Ram, and Ram had Amminadab, no cap.
Amminadab had Nahshon, and Nahshon had Salmon, big yikes.
Salmon had Boaz, and Boaz had Obed, fr.
Obed had Jesse, and Jesse had David, that’s a whole legacy.
