Gen Z: Lamentations 5
Yo, Lord, peep what’s happened to us: check out our struggle, it’s rough vibes.
Our stuff got snatched by strangers, and our homes are now for outsiders.
We’re like orphans out here, no dads, and our moms are like widows, fr.
We’re paying for our water; even our wood is getting sold to us, no cap.
We’re under mad pressure: grinding hard, but no chill or rest.
We reached out to the Egyptians and Assyrians just to get some bread, bet.
Our fam messed up, and now we’re stuck carrying their baggage, savage.
Servants are running the show: nobody’s saving us from their grip, sus.
We’re hustling for bread while risking our lives because of the wild’s sword.
Our skin’s looking dark like an oven ‘cause of the crazy famine, fr.
They were wildin’ with the women in Zion, and the girls in Judah’s cities.
The princes got hung up by their hands: elders weren’t getting any respect.
They made the young dudes grind, and the kids got crushed under the wood.
Elders stopped chilling at the gate, and the young ones quit the music vibes.
Our heart’s joy is gone; our dance turned into straight-up mourning.
The crown fell off our heads: we messed up, and that’s a big oof!
Our hearts are feeling weak; our eyes are dim from all this pain, periodt.
Zion’s mountain is all sad, and even foxes are walking on it, no cap.
But you, Lord, are forever; your throne stays lit from generation to generation.
Why you ghosting us for so long, Lord? Don’t leave us hanging, fr.
Turn us back to you, Lord, and we’ll bounce back; renew our days like before.
But you’ve totally rejected us; you’re mad at us, and that’s just facts.
