Gen Z: Judges 4
The Israelites were back at it again, doing sus stuff in front of the Lord after Ehud passed away.
So God was like, "Bet," and let Jabin, the king of Canaan, flex on them from Hazor; his main dude was Sisera, chilling in Harosheth with the squad.
The Israelites cried out to the Lord 'cause Sisera had like 900 iron chariots and was seriously oppressing them for twenty years.
Deborah, a prophetess and Lapidoth's wifey, was judging Israel at that time, keeping it real.
She was vibing under Deborah's palm tree between Ramah and Beth-el in Ephraim, and the Israelites rolled up to her for some judgment.
She hit up Barak, son of Abinoam, from Kedesh-naphtali, like, "Didn’t God tell you to head to mount Tabor and grab ten thousand homies from Naphtali and Zebulun?"
"I’ll lead Sisera, Jabin’s army captain, to the Kishon River with his chariots and crew, and I’ll hand him over to you."
Barak was like, "If you roll with me, I’m in; if not, I’m staying put."
She replied, "I’m totally coming with you, but just know this journey won't be your glow-up; God’s gonna hand Sisera over to a woman." Then Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh.
Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he rolled up with ten thousand men at his feet, while Deborah went up with him.
Heber the Kenite, from Hobab’s fam (Moses' father-in-law), was doing his own thing, pitching his tent in the plain of Zaanaim near Kedesh.
They told Sisera that Barak, son of Abinoam, had gone up to mount Tabor.
Sisera gathered all his chariots, like 900 iron ones, and his crew from Harosheth to the Kishon River.
Deborah told Barak, "Time to pop off; today’s the day the Lord hands Sisera to you. Didn’t God go ahead of you?" So Barak rolled down from mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.
The Lord totally wrecked Sisera and all his chariots before Barak, so Sisera jumped off his ride and dipped on foot.
Barak chased after the chariots and the crew to Harosheth, and Sisera's entire squad fell by the sword; no one was left standing.
Sisera ran on foot to Jael’s tent, Heber’s wife, 'cause there was peace between Jabin and Heber’s fam.
Jael met Sisera and was like, "Come in, my dude, don’t be scared." Once he was inside, she threw a blanket over him.
He asked her for some water, saying he was thirsty, and she gave him milk and covered him up.
He told her, "Stand at the tent door, and if anyone asks if there’s a man here, just say no."
Then Jael took a tent peg and a hammer, snuck up on him while he was dead asleep, and smashed the peg into his temples, fastening it to the ground. Dude was out cold.
While Barak was still chasing Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, saying, "Come check out the dude you’re looking for." When he entered her tent, Sisera was dead, and the peg was in his head.
So God straight-up humbled Jabin, the king of Canaan, that day before the Israelites.
The Israelites were thriving, defeating Jabin, the king of Canaan, until they wiped him out completely.
