Gen Z: Judges 21
The homies of Israel swore in Mizpeh, like, "No cap, we ain’t giving our daughters to Benjamin for wifey."
The squad rolled up to God’s crib, chillin' till evening, crying like, "This is savage!"
They were like, "Yo, Lord God of Israel, why we missing a tribe today? This is sus."
The next day, the crew woke up early, built an altar, and popped off with burnt offerings and peace vibes.
The Israelites were like, "Who didn’t roll up to the Lord at Mizpeh? We made a big oath that anyone who skipped is done for."
The Israelites felt bad for their bro Benjamin, saying, "One tribe is totally cut off today."
They asked, "How we gonna find wives for the ones left? We swore to the Lord no daughters for them."
They were like, "Which tribe didn’t show up to Mizpeh? No one from Jabesh–gilead came through to the squad."
The people were counted, and guess what? No one from Jabesh–gilead was there, fr.
The crew sent 12,000 of the toughest dudes, telling them, "Go and take out the people of Jabesh–gilead, women and kids included."
They were told, "You gotta wipe out every male and every woman who’s been with a dude."
They found 400 young virgins in Jabesh–gilead who hadn’t been with anyone and brought them to the camp in Shiloh, which is in Canaan.
The whole squad sent some to chat with the Benjamin crew chilling at Rimmon rock, trying to keep it peaceful.
Benjamin showed up again, and they gave them the wives they saved from Jabesh–gilead, but it still wasn’t enough, fr.
The people felt bad for Benjamin because the Lord had caused a rift in the tribes of Israel.
Then the elders were like, "How we gonna find wives for the ones left? All the women in Benjamin are gone."
They said, "We gotta make sure the ones who escaped have an inheritance, so a tribe doesn’t get wiped out."
But we can’t give them our daughters for wives, since the Israelites swore, "Cursed be anyone who gives a wife to Benjamin."
Then they said, "Yo, there’s a yearly feast of the Lord in Shiloh, up north of Beth–el, east of the highway from Beth–el to Shechem, and south of Lebonah."
So they told the Benjamin crew, "Go chill in the vineyards."
And check it, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance, then you guys pop out of the vineyards and snag yourselves wives from them."
And when their dads or bros come to complain, we’ll be like, "Cut them some slack for our sake, we didn’t hook them up with wives during the war, so don’t blame us."
The Benjamin crew did just that, took wives from the dancers they caught, and went back to their land, fixing up their cities.
The Israelites bounced from there, each homie heading back to their tribe and fam, claiming their inheritance.
Back then, there was no king in Israel, so everyone just did what felt right to them.
