Gen Z: Joshua 5
So, all the kings of the Amorites and Canaanites heard that the Lord dried up the Jordan for the Israelites, and they were shook, like, no rizz left in them.
Then the Lord told Joshua to grab some sharp knives and get the Israelites circumcised again, no cap.
Joshua made those sharp knives and circumcised the Israelites at the hill of the foreskins, fr.
The reason Joshua did this? All the dudes from Egypt who were warriors died in the wilderness after they bounced from Egypt.
Everyone who came out was circumcised, but the ones born in the wilderness? They weren’t circumcised, periodt.
The Israelites wandered for forty years in the wilderness until all the warrior dudes from Egypt were gone 'cause they didn’t listen to the Lord, and He swore they wouldn’t see the promised land, a place flowing with milk and honey.
Joshua circumcised their kids who took their place, 'cause they were uncircumcised since nobody did it on the way.
After they finished circumcising everyone, they just chilled in the camp until they healed up, no cap.
The Lord told Joshua, "Today I’ve rolled away the shame of Egypt from you," so that place is called Gilgal to this day.
The Israelites set up camp in Gilgal and celebrated Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at night in the plains of Jericho.
The next day after Passover, they ate the old corn of the land, unleavened cakes, and roasted corn, all that good stuff.
The manna stopped showing up the day after they ate the old corn, and the Israelites had no more manna; they just ate the fruit of Canaan that year, lit.
One time, when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a dude with a sword drawn, and he was like, "Are you with us or against us?"
The dude said, "Nah, I’m the captain of the Lord’s army." Joshua hit the ground and worshiped, asking, "What’s good, my lord?"
The captain said, "Take off your shoes; this place is holy." And Joshua was like, "Bet," and did it.
