Gen Z: Jeremiah 38
So Shephatiah, Gedaliah, Jucal, and Pashur heard what Jeremiah was spillin' to the squad, like,
"Listen up, if you chill in this city, you’re toast—sword, famine, and pestilence are coming for ya; but if you dip to the Chaldeans, you’ll survive and vibe."
God straight up said, "This city’s about to get wrecked by Babylon’s crew, no cap."
The princes told the king, "Yo, we gotta take this dude out; he’s making the warriors weak and spreading bad vibes for the people."
King Zedekiah was like, "He’s in your hands, fam; I can’t do anything against you."
So they threw Jeremiah in the dungeon, all muddy and sus, and he was sinking in it with no water.
Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, one of the king’s homies, caught wind of Jeremiah’s situation while the king was chilling at the gate.
Ebed-melech stepped out of the palace and hit up the king, saying,
"Yo, king, these guys are totally savage for what they did to Jeremiah; he’s about to starve down there with no bread left in the city."
The king told Ebed-melech, "Grab thirty men and pull Jeremiah out of that dungeon before he kicks the bucket."
So Ebed-melech grabbed his squad and dipped to the king’s crib under the treasury, snagged some old rags, and let them down to Jeremiah in the dungeon, no cap.
Ebed-melech was like, "Yo, Jeremiah, put these old rags under your arms and tie ’em up." And Jeremiah was like, "Bet."
They pulled Jeremiah up with the cords, and he was outta the dungeon, chillin’ in the prison court, fr.
Then Zedekiah the king hit up Jeremiah the prophet and brought him to the third entry in the Lord’s house, saying, "I got a question for you; keep it 100 with me."
Jeremiah was like, "If I spill the tea, you gonna put me on blast? And if I give you advice, you gonna actually listen?"
Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah, "As the Lord lives, who made us, I won’t put you to death or hand you over to those guys trying to get you."
Then Jeremiah said, "Listen up, the Lord, God of hosts, says if you roll out to the king of Babylon’s crew, you’ll be good, and this city won’t catch fire; you and your fam will be straight."
"But if you don’t go to the king of Babylon’s crew, this city’s getting wrecked by the Chaldeans, and you won’t escape their grip."
Zedekiah was like, "I’m shook about the Jews who switched sides to the Chaldeans; what if they hand me over and roast me?"
But Jeremiah was like, "They won’t hand you over. Just listen to the Lord’s voice I’m telling you, and you’ll be good, and your soul will live, periodt."
But if you dip, this is what the Lord showed me: no cap.
Yo, all the ladies left in the king of Judah’s house gonna be brought to the king of Babylon’s squad, and they gonna say, "Your homies set you up, and they got you stuck: your feet are deep in the mud, and they ain't coming back."
They gonna bring out all your wifeys and kids to the Chaldeans: you ain't escaping their grip, but you gonna be taken by the king of Babylon: and you gonna make this city go up in flames.
Then Zedekiah was like to Jeremiah, "Keep it on the low about these words, and you won't catch a fade."
But if the princes find out I chilled with you, and they roll up on you, asking, "Tell us what you said to the king, no hiding," we won’t cap you; also what the king said to you:
Then you gonna tell them, "I asked the king not to send me back to Jonathan’s crib, or I’ll be toast."
Then all the princes came to Jeremiah, asking him: and he told them all these words the king commanded. So they stopped talking to him; for the vibes were off.
So Jeremiah stayed in the court of the prison until the day Jerusalem got taken: and he was there when it went down.
