Gen Z: Isaiah 57
The righteous are out here struggling, and no one’s even vibing with it: merciful peeps are taken away, and no one’s realizing it's to escape the bad stuff coming.
They’re gonna chill in peace: they’ll catch some Z's in their beds, each one living their best life.
Yo, come here, you sons of the sorceress, the offspring of the cheaters and the shady ones.
Who you flexin’ on? Who you throwin’ shade at? Aren’t you just a bunch of rebels, a crew of lies?
Y’all are hyped up with idols under every green tree, sacrificing kids in the valleys under the rocks?
Among the smooth stones of the stream is your vibe; that’s your lot: you’ve poured out drink offerings and brought food offerings. Should I be chillin’ with that?
You set your bed up on a high mountain: you went there to throw down your sacrifices.
You’ve got your memories behind the doors and on the posts: you’ve shown yourself to someone else and made a deal with them; you loved their vibe when you saw it.
You went to the king with your fancy oils, upped your perfume game, sent your messengers far away, and debased yourself like, no cap, all the way down.
You’re tired from hustling so hard; yet you didn’t say, “No hope”: you found life in your own hands; so you weren’t even stressed.
Who you scared of, that you’re lying and not remembering me, or keeping it real? Didn’t I stay quiet before, and you’re not even worried about me?
I’m gonna call out your righteousness and your deeds; they ain’t gonna help you out.
When you cry, let your homies save you; but the wind’s gonna blow them away; it’s all cap: but whoever trusts in me will own the land and inherit my holy mountain.
And they’ll say, “Clear the way, clear the way, take away the obstacles from my peeps.”
For this is what the high and mighty One says, who lives forever, whose name is Holy; I chill in the high and holy spot, with the humble hearts, to revive the spirit of the low-key and to lift up the heart of the broken.
I won’t argue forever, nor will I always be mad: the spirit’s gotta keep going, and the souls I made can’t be crushed.
I was mad at his greed and smote him: I hid away and got mad, and he kept going on his own way.
I’ve seen his ways, and I’m gonna heal him: I’ll guide him and bring comfort to him and those who mourn.
I create the words of peace; peace, peace to those far away and those close, says the Lord; and I will heal him.
But the wicked are like a restless sea, can’t chill, throwing up mud and dirt.
There’s no peace, says my God, for the wicked.
