Gen Z: Isaiah 45
Yo, God’s talking to Cyrus, the chosen one, holding his hand to take down nations; he’s gonna unlock doors that won’t ever be closed, no cap.
I’m gonna clear the path for you, making the rough spots smooth; I’ll smash the bronze gates and break the iron bars like it’s nothing.
I’ll hook you up with hidden treasures and secret riches so you know I’m the Lord, the one who calls you by name and is the God of Israel.
For Jacob and Israel, my peeps, I called you by name even if you didn’t know me, periodt.
I’m the Lord, no one else is in the game; I got you, even if you didn’t recognize me, fr.
They’ll realize from sunrise to sunset that I’m the only one; I’m the Lord, and there’s no competition.
I’m the one who creates light and darkness; I bring peace and chaos; I’m the Lord, doing all this.
Heavens, drop down and let the skies rain down justice; earth, open up and bring salvation; I made all this happen.
Big oof to anyone fighting their Creator! Can clay ask the potter, “What are you making?” like, chill.
Big oof to anyone asking their dad, “What did you make me?” or to a mom, “What did you bring into the world?”
God, the Holy One of Israel, says, “Ask me about what’s coming for my kids and tell me what to do.”
I made the earth and created humans; my hands stretched out the heavens, and I called the stars into being.
I raised him up to do right, guiding all his moves; he’ll build my city and free my captives for free, says the Lord.
God says, “The work of Egypt and Ethiopia’s big shots will come to you, falling down and saying, ‘God’s in you, no doubt.’”
For real, you’re a God who keeps it low-key, O God of Israel, the Savior.
They’ll be embarrassed and confused, all of them; the idol makers will be shook together.
But Israel will be saved in the Lord with forever salvation; you won’t be ashamed, no cap.
For God says, “I created the heavens and the earth; I made it to be lived in, not just for show; I’m the Lord, and there’s no one else.”
I haven’t whispered in secret or told Jacob to seek me for nothing; I speak the truth, declaring what’s right.
Gather up and come close, you who escaped from the nations; they don’t even know they’re praying to a fake god that can’t save.
Tell them to come together; who’s been dropping knowledge since way back? Isn’t it me, the Lord? There’s no other God, just a righteous Savior.
Look to me and be saved, all you far away; I’m God, and there’s no one else.
I’ve sworn by myself, my words are truth, and every knee will bow, every tongue will swear to me.
For sure, someone will say, “In the Lord, I find my strength and righteousness; people will come to him, and haters will be embarrassed.”
In the Lord, all of Israel’s kids will be justified and shine bright.
