Gen Z: Ezra 9
So, all this went down, and the homies came to me, like, "Yo, the Israelites, the priests, and Levites are totally vibing with the locals, doing their sus stuff, like the Canaanites and others."
They’re scooping up their daughters for their fams, so the holy squad is mixing with those peeps, and the rulers are leading the charge on this mess.
When I heard this, I was shook, ripped my clothes, pulled out my hair, and just sat there, like, "What even?"
Then everyone who was feeling the weight of God’s words gathered around me, 'cause of the drama from those taken away, and I just sat there, stunned, until the evening vibes.
At the evening sacrifice, I got up from my feels; after ripping my clothes, I dropped to my knees and threw my hands up to the Lord, like, "Help me!"
I said, "O my God, I’m so embarrassed I can’t even look up at you, 'cause our wrongs are stacked high, and our sins are up in the sky."
Since our ancestors, we’ve been in a major mess till now; our sins got us and our kings delivered to the kings of the lands, facing the sword and all that chaos, like it’s today.
But now, for a hot minute, God showed us mercy, leaving a remnant to escape and giving us a little hope in His holy spot, to lighten our eyes and give us a boost in this struggle.
We were stuck, but our God didn’t dip on us; He showed us love in front of the kings of Persia, reviving us to rebuild our God’s house and fix the wreckage, giving us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.
So now, O our God, what’s the move after this? We’ve totally ghosted your commandments.
You told your prophets, like, "The land you’re going to is dirty, filled with all the nasty stuff from the locals."
So like, don’t give your daughters to their sons, and don’t take their daughters for your sons, or chase after their peace or cash forever; that way, you can be strong, enjoy the land, and pass it down to your kids forever.
After all the drama we’ve faced for our wrongs, and for our major mess-up, seeing that you, our God, have low-key punished us less than we deserved, and gave us this kind of escape;
Should we go and break your commandments again, joining up with these peeps and their sus vibes? Wouldn’t you be mad at us until there’s no one left to escape?
O Lord God of Israel, you’re straight-up righteous; we’re still here, like, "What’s good?" We’re in our mess before you, 'cause we can’t even stand in front of you right now.
