Gen Z: Ezekiel 9
He shouted in my ears, "Yo, tell the squad in charge of the city to roll up, every dude with their weapon ready to go."
And, for real, six guys showed up from the higher gate up north, all packing heat; one dude was dripped in linen with a writer’s inkhorn chillin' by his side. They walked in and stood by the brass altar.
The glory of the God of Israel lifted from the cherub, where he was, to the house's threshold. He called out to the dude in linen with the inkhorn.
The Lord told him, "Slide through the city, especially Jerusalem, and mark those who are vibing hard and crying over all the wild stuff happening."
To the others, He said loud enough for me to hear, "Follow him through the city and take 'em out: no mercy, no cap."
"Wipe out everyone, old and young, girls and kids, and women: but don’t touch anyone with the mark; start at my sanctuary." They kicked things off with the old heads in front of the house.
He told them, "Mess up the house and fill the courts with the fallen: go hard." And they went out and wrecked the city.
While they were taking them out and I was left, I fell on my face and cried, "Ah Lord God! You really gonna wipe out all of Israel while pouring out your wrath on Jerusalem?"
Then He said to me, "The sin of Israel and Judah is off the charts, the land's soaked in blood, and the city is wild: they say, 'The Lord has ghosted the earth, and He doesn't see us.'"
"As for me, my eye won’t hold back, no pity for them; I’ll make sure their actions come back to them."
And, for real, the dude in linen with the inkhorn said, "I’ve done what you told me to do."
