Gen Z: Amos 4
Yo, listen up, you cows of Bashan chillin' in Samaria, oppressin' the poor and crushin' the needy, tellin' your bosses, "Bring it on, let’s drink!"
The Lord God’s like, “I swear on my holiness, days are comin’ when I’ll pull you out with hooks, and your fam too, no cap.”
You’ll bounce out through the breaches, every cow followin’ its lead, and toss 'em into the palace, says the Lord.
Roll up to Beth-el and act up; at Gilgal, go wild with your sins; bring your sacrifices every morning and your tithes after three years, fr.
Bring a lit thanksgiving sacrifice with leaven, and shout out your free offerings: this is what you vibe with, O Israel, says the Lord God.
I’ve kept your smiles fresh in all your cities, but you’re hungry everywhere; still, you haven’t come back to me, says the Lord.
I held back the rain when harvest was just around the corner: one city got blessed with rain, while another stayed dry and withered, periodt.
So a couple cities rolled to one city for water; they were thirsty but didn’t find satisfaction; yet you still haven’t returned to me, says the Lord.
I hit you with blasts and mildew: your gardens and vineyards were poppin', but the palmerworm devoured them; still, you didn’t come back to me, says the Lord.
I sent a plague like Egypt’s: I took out your young men with the sword, snatched your horses, and made your camp smell nasty; yet you still haven’t returned to me, says the Lord.
I’ve flipped some of you like God flipped Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand pulled from the flames; yet you haven’t returned to me, says the Lord.
So here’s the deal, Israel: I’m about to do this to you, so get ready to meet your God, O Israel.
For real, He’s the one who shapes the mountains, creates the wind, spills your thoughts, makes the morning dark, and walks on the high places of the earth; The Lord, The God of hosts, is His name.
