Gen Z: Judges 13
The Israelites were being sus again, doing evil in God's eyes, so He let them get wrecked by the Philistines for forty years.
There was this dude named Manoah from Zorah, part of the Dan fam, and his wife was straight-up barren, no cap.
Then an angel of the Lord popped up to her and was like, “Yo, you’re barren now, but you’re about to have a son, fr.”
So listen up, don’t drink any wine or strong stuff, and steer clear of anything unclean, periodt.
You’re gonna have a son, and no razor will touch his head ‘cause he’s gonna be a Nazarite for God from the jump, and he’ll start saving Israel from the Philistines.
The woman ran back to her husband and said, “A man of God came to me, and his vibe was like an angel, super intense, but I didn’t catch his name.”
He told me, “You’re gonna have a son, so don’t drink wine or strong stuff, and keep it clean, ‘cause he’s a Nazarite for God from the womb to his last day.”
Manoah was like, “God, please send that man again to teach us how to raise this kid that’s coming.”
God heard Manoah, and the angel showed up again while the woman was chilling in the field, but Manoah wasn’t there.
The woman was in a rush, ran to her husband, and said, “Yo, the man who showed up before is back!”
Manoah got up and followed his wife, asked the man, “Are you the one who talked to her?” And the man said, “That’s me.”
Manoah was like, “Cool, let’s make sure your words come true. How do we raise this kid?”
The angel told Manoah, “Just make sure your wife follows everything I said.”
She can’t eat anything from the vine, no wine or strong drinks, and no unclean food; just keep it all in check, aight?
Manoah was like, “Can we keep you here? We’ll get a goat ready for you.”
The angel was like, “Even if you try to keep me, I’m not eating your food. If you wanna offer something, it’s gotta be for the Lord.” Manoah didn’t even realize he was talking to an angel.
Manoah asked, “What’s your name, so we can show you some respect when your words come true?”
The angel said, “Why you wanna know my name? It’s kinda secret, you feel me?”
So Manoah grabbed a goat and a grain offering and offered it on a rock to the Lord, and the angel did some crazy stuff; Manoah and his wife were shook.
When the flame shot up to heaven from the altar, the angel went up in the fire, and Manoah and his wife were like, “Whoa!” and fell down.
After that, the angel didn’t show up again, and Manoah realized he was dealing with an angel of the Lord.
Manoah told his wife, “We’re totally gonna die ‘cause we saw God.”
But his wife was like, “If God wanted us dead, He wouldn’t have accepted our offerings or shown us all this wild stuff.”
The woman had a son and named him Samson; the kid grew up, and God blessed him, no cap.
The Spirit of the Lord started moving him in the Dan camp between Zorah and Eshtaol, and it was lit.
