Gen Z: Jeremiah 3
They be like, if a dude ditches his girl and she’s with someone else, can he just slide back in? That land be sus, but you’ve been out here playing the field; still wanna come back to me, says the Lord.
Look up at the high spots and see where you ain't been chillin’. You’ve been out here vibing like an Arabian in the wild; you’ve totally messed up the land with your wild ways.
So the rain's been ghosting you, and you got a whore's vibe, acting like you ain't ashamed, fr.
You not gonna hit me up this time, saying, "My dad, you were my ride or die back in the day?"
Is he gonna stay mad forever? Like, for real? You’ve been out here doing savage stuff, no cap.
The Lord hit me up during Josiah’s reign, asking if I saw what backsliding Israel was doing? She’s climbing every mountain and chilling under every tree, acting all wild.
I was like, after she did all that, "Come back to me." But she didn’t even trip. Her shady sister Judah was watching.
I saw that I had to let her go because of all the sus stuff backsliding Israel did; I even gave her a breakup note, but her shady sister Judah didn’t care and played the field too.
And for real, she made the land all messed up with her wild ways, committing adultery with rocks and trees.
Yet after all this, her shady sister Judah didn’t come back to me with her whole heart, just faked it, says the Lord.
And the Lord told me, backsliding Israel is more justified than shady Judah.
Go and drop these words to the north, telling them, "Return, backsliding Israel," says the Lord; I won't unleash my anger on you, 'cause I'm merciful, periodt.
Just own up to your wrongs, that you’ve messed up against the Lord your God and scattered your vibes to strangers under every tree; you didn’t listen to my voice, says the Lord.
Turn back, backsliding kids, says the Lord; I’m committed to you: I’ll grab you from a city and two from a fam, and bring you to Zion.
I’ll give you pastors that are on my vibe, feeding you knowledge and understanding.
And when you blow up and grow in the land, in those days, says the Lord, they won’t even mention the ark of the covenant anymore; it won’t even cross their minds.
Back then, they’ll call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; all the nations will gather there, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem; they won’t be walking after their evil thoughts anymore.
In those days, Judah will roll with Israel, and they’ll come together from the north to the land I gave to your fam.
But I was like, how do I put you with the kids and give you a dope land, a lit heritage of nations? You’ll call me "My dad" and not ghost me.
Just like a wife dips on her husband, you’ve been shady with me, O house of Israel, says the Lord.
A voice was heard on the high places, crying and begging from the kids of Israel; they’ve messed up their way and forgotten the Lord their God.
Return, backsliding kids, and I’ll heal your backslidings. We’re coming to you, 'cause you’re our God, no cap.
Honestly, hoping for salvation from the hills and mountains is a joke; true salvation for Israel is in the Lord our God.
For shame has devoured the grind of our fathers since we were kids; their flocks, herds, sons, and daughters.
We’re lying down in our shame, and confusion is all over us; we’ve sinned against the Lord our God, us and our fathers, since we were kids until now, and haven’t listened to the Lord our God.
