Gen Z: Isaiah 33
Yo, woe to you who be spoil’n without getting spoiled back; acting sus when no one’s been sus with you! When you stop being shady, you’ll get hit back; when you quit the drama, the drama will hit you.
O Lord, show us some grace; we’ve been waiting on you: be our strength every morning, our savior when things get tough.
When the chaos popped off, the people bounced; when you showed up, the nations scattered like they were ghosted.
Your loot’s gonna be gathered up like caterpillar vibes: just like locusts, they’ll swarm on them.
The Lord’s on a whole ‘nother level; He’s up high: He’s filled Zion with justice and good vibes.
Wisdom and knowledge will keep you steady, and strength is the key to salvation: the fear of the Lord is like pure gold.
Check it, the brave ones are crying out loud; the peacemakers are out here weeping hard.
The roads are all messed up, travelers are ghosting: he broke the deal, dissed the cities, and he’s not checking for anyone.
The earth’s feeling down and out: Lebanon’s ashamed and cut down; Sharon’s looking like a desert; Bashan and Carmel are dropping their fruit.
Now I’m gonna rise up, says the Lord; now I’m gonna flex; now I’ll lift myself up.
You’ll be spitting out chaff, bringing forth nothing; your breath’s gonna be like fire, burning you up.
And the people will be like lime burning: like thorns getting cut down, they’ll be lit on fire.
Listen up, you far away peeps, check out what I’ve done; and you close ones, recognize my power.
The sinners in Zion are shook; fear’s got the fake ones trippin’. Who’s gonna chill with the fire that eats everything? Who can handle the never-ending flames?
He who walks right and speaks truth; he who disses the gains from oppressing others, shakes off bribes, stops his ears from hearing bloodshed, and closes his eyes to evil;
He’ll be up high: his safe spot will be solid rocks: he’ll get bread; his water will be secure.
Your eyes will see the king in all his glory: they’ll check out the land that’s super far away.
Your heart’s gonna feel the fear. Where’s the writer? Where’s the collector? Where’s the one counting the towers?
You won’t see a fierce crew, a people speaking in a way you can’t catch; with a stutter that’s hard to understand.
Look at Zion, the city of our gatherings: your eyes will see Jerusalem chillin’ peacefully, a tabernacle that won’t come down; not one stake will ever be moved, and none of the cords will be broken.
But there, the glorious Lord will be our spot with wide rivers and streams; no ships with oars will cruise through, and no fancy boats will pass by.
For the Lord’s our judge, our lawgiver, our king; He’s got our back.
Your gear’s all loose; they couldn’t even hold up their mast, couldn’t spread their sails: then the big spoil gets divided; the lame take the loot.
And the people living there won’t say, “I’m sick”: the crew that dwells there will get their sins forgiven.
