Gen Z: Ezekiel 17
And the word of the Lord hit me up, saying,
Yo, son of man, drop a riddle and flex a parable for the squad of Israel;
And say, "The Lord God says: A dope eagle with huge wings, long and all feathery, came through Lebanon, snagged the top branch of the cedar tree."
He snipped off the top of his young twigs and took it to a busy place; he set it up in a city full of merchants.
He also grabbed some seeds from the land and planted them in a lit field; he put it by big waters, like a willow tree.
And it grew, became a chill vine, low-key spreading out, with branches pointing to him, roots chilling beneath: so it was a vine that produced branches and shot out sprigs.
Then there was another sick eagle with big wings and loads of feathers: and this vine bent its roots toward him, shooting out branches so he could water it, no cap.
It was planted in solid soil by great waters, ready to pop off with branches and bear fruit, looking like a solid vine.
Say this: "The Lord God says; Will it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit so it withers? It will totally wither, all the leaves gone, even without a big crew to pull it up."
Yeah, for real, being planted, will it thrive? It’ll straight up wither when the east wind hits it; it’ll wither in the furrows where it grew.
Plus, the word of the Lord came to me again, saying,
Tell the rebellious crew, "Don’t you get what this means? Check it, the king of Babylon rolled up to Jerusalem, snatched the king and his crew, and took them to Babylon;
And he took some of the king’s seed, made a deal with him, and swore an oath: he also took the strong ones from the land.
So the kingdom might stay low-key, not hype itself up, but by keeping his promise, it might stand.
But he went rogue, sending his peeps to Egypt for horses and a big crew. Will he thrive? Can he escape doing such sus stuff? Or will he break the deal and get wrecked?
As I live, says the Lord God, for sure in the spot where the king who made him king hangs out, he’ll die, ‘cause he dissed the oath and broke the deal, even right there in Babylon.
And Pharaoh with his squad and big army won’t save him in the war, building up defenses to take out a bunch of people:
Since he dissed the oath by breaking the deal, when he gave his hand and did all this, he won’t escape.
So the Lord God says; as I live, my oath he dissed, my deal he broke, it’s gonna come back on his own head.
I’ll set my trap for him, he’ll get caught in my snare, and I’ll bring him to Babylon to deal with him for his mess against me.
And all his runaways with their squads will fall by the sword, and those who stay will be scattered in all directions: and you’ll know that I, the Lord, have said it.
The Lord God says; I’ll take the highest branch of the tall cedar and set it up; I’ll snip off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and plant it on a high and dope mountain.
On the height of Israel’s mountain, I’ll plant it: it’ll produce boughs, bear fruit, and be a solid cedar: and every bird will chill under it; in the shade of its branches, they’ll hang out.
And all the trees in the field will know that I, the Lord, brought down the high tree, lifted the low tree, dried up the green tree, and made the dry tree thrive: I, the Lord, have said it and done it.
