Gen Z: Deuteronomy 31
So Moses rolled up and dropped these words to all of Israel.
He was like, "Yo, I'm 120 years old today; I can't really vibe with going in and out anymore. Plus, the Lord said I can't cross this Jordan."
The Lord your God is gonna roll out before you, and he's gonna wipe out those nations for you, and you’ll take over. Joshua's got your back, just like the Lord said.
The Lord's gonna do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and their land, which he totally wrecked.
The Lord’s gonna hand them over to you, so you can flex on them with all the commandments I gave you.
Stay strong and brave, fam; don’t be scared of them, 'cause the Lord your God is with you; he won’t bail on you or ghost you.
Moses called out to Joshua in front of all Israel, saying, "Stay strong and brave; you gotta lead this crew into the land the Lord promised their ancestors, and you’ll help them take it."
The Lord’s the one going before you; he’s got your back, won’t let you down, or leave you hanging: don’t be scared or stressed.
Moses wrote down this law and passed it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the Lord’s covenant ark, and to all the elders of Israel.
Moses told them, "At the end of every seven years, during the year of release, and at the feast of tabernacles, do this."
When all of Israel rolls up to vibe with the Lord, you gotta read this law loud for everyone to hear, no cap.
Gather everyone, fam—men, women, kids, and even the homies chillin' in your gates—so they can hear, learn, and fear the Lord, periodt.
And the kiddos who haven’t peeped anything yet can hear and learn to respect the Lord your God, as long as you’re living in that land you’re about to own across the Jordan.
The Lord told Moses, "Yo, your time is coming, you gotta call Joshua and meet up at the tabernacle so I can give him the lowdown." So Moses and Joshua pulled up to the tabernacle.
The Lord showed up in the tabernacle as a lit pillar of cloud, chillin' right at the door.
The Lord said to Moses, "You’re about to catch some Z's with your fam; but this crew will bounce and start vibing with the foreign gods over there, ditching me and breaking the deal we had."
My anger's gonna pop off against them that day; I’ll ghost them and hide my face, and they’ll get wrecked with all kinds of drama, and they’ll be like, "Did these bad vibes come 'cause our God ain't here?"
For real, I’ll definitely hide my face that day for all the bad stuff they’ve done, turning to other gods and whatnot.
So write this song for yourselves and teach it to the kids of Israel; make sure they know it so it can be a witness for me against them.
'Cause when I bring them into the land I promised their ancestors, a place flowing with milk and honey, and they’re feasting and getting all comfy, they’ll switch to other gods, serve them, and totally provoke me, breaking our covenant.
When all the drama and bad vibes hit, this song’s gonna call you out, no cap; it ain't gonna be forgotten by your kids, 'cause I see how you be thinkin', even now, before I bring you into the promised land I promised.
So, Moses dropped this song on the same day and schooled the kids of Israel.
He told Joshua, "Yo, be strong and keep that good energy; you’re gonna lead the fam into the land I promised, and I got your back."
After Moses wrapped up writing all these laws in a book, he was done, periodt.
Then Moses hit up the Levites who carried the ark of the Lord’s covenant, saying,
"Take this law book and stash it by the ark of the Lord your God, so it can vibe against you."
I see your rebellion and stubbornness; look, while I'm still here, you’ve been acting up against the Lord, and it’s gonna get worse when I’m gone.
Bring all the elders and officers to me, so I can drop these words in their ears and call heaven and earth to witness against them.
I know that after I'm gone, you’ll totally mess things up and stray from what I told you; bad stuff is coming in the future 'cause you’ll do evil in the Lord’s sight and make Him mad with your actions.
Moses shared this song with all the Israelites until he was done, for real.
