2 Samuel 23

Gen Z: 2 Samuel 23

1Yo, these are the last words from David. David, son of Jesse, the dude who got lifted up, the anointed one of God, and the sweet vibes master of Israel, said,

2The Spirit of the Lord straight up spoke through me, and His words were on my lips.

3The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel hit me with this: if you wanna rule over people, you gotta be just, and keep it real with God.

4He’s like the morning light when the sun pops up, a clear day with no clouds; like fresh grass growing after the rain, pure vibes.

5Even if my house ain't on point with God, He still made a forever deal with me, all set and solid: this is my salvation and all I want, even if it doesn’t grow.

6But the sons of Belial are like thorns you just toss aside, 'cause you can’t grab them with your hands, no cap.

7Anyone who tries to touch them better be ready with iron and a spear; they’ll get straight up burned in the same spot.

8Here are the names of David's goated warriors: The Tachmonite who chilled in the chief seat; that was Adino the Eznite: he took down 800 peeps with one spear throw.

9Next up was Eleazar, son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three savage warriors with David, when they faced off against the Philistines who were ready for battle while the rest of Israel dipped.

10He got up and went hard against the Philistines until his hand was tired, and it stuck to the sword: and the Lord brought a major win that day; the crew came back just to grab the loot.

11After him was Shammah, son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines rolled up, trying to claim some lentil vibes, and everyone dipped.

12But he stood his ground, defended it, and took out the Philistines: God pulled off a major win.

13Three of the thirty homies bounced down to David during harvest, chilling at the cave of Adullam, while the Philistines were camped in the valley of Rephaim.

14David was holding it down in a stronghold, and the Philistines were posted up in Bethlehem.

15David was craving a sip and said, "Man, I wish someone would get me water from the well in Bethlehem by the gate!"

16The three dope warriors busted through the Philistine squad, grabbed water from that well in Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he was like, "Nah," and poured it out for the Lord.

17He said, "No way, Lord! I can't drink this; it's like the blood of these men who risked their lives." So he didn't drink it. This is what those three champs did.

18Abishai, Joab's bro, was the top dog among three. He flexed his spear on three hundred and took them out, earning his stripes among the trio.

19Wasn't he the most honorable of the three? He was their captain, but he didn't reach the level of the first three.

20Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, a straight-up beast from Kabzeel, took out two lion-like dudes from Moab: he even went down and killed a lion in a pit during snow.

21Dude straight up took out an Egyptian, who was pretty lit with a spear, but he rolled up with a staff, snagged the spear, and took him out with his own weapon.

22Benaiah, Jehoiada's kid, did all this and was vibin' with the top three savage warriors.

23He had more rizz than the thirty, but didn’t make the first three. David put him in charge of his squad.

24Asahel, Joab's bro, was part of the thirty; Elhanan, Dodo's kid from Bethlehem,

25Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26Helez the Paltite, Ira, Ikkesh's son from Tekoah,

27Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

28Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

29Heleb, Baanah's son, a Netophathite, Ittai, Ribai's son from Gibeah of Benjamin's crew,

30Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai from the brooks of Gaash,

31Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite, no cap, they’re the real ones.

32Eliahba the Shaalbonite, from Jashen, and Jonathan, vibin’ hard.

33Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam, son of Sharar, just chillin’.

34Eliphelet, son of Ahasbai, Maachathite fam, and Eliam, son of Ahithophel, the Gilonite, straight up goated.

35Hezrai the Carmelite and Paarai the Arbite, keepin’ it lit.

36Igal, son of Nathan from Zobah, and Bani the Gadite, squad goals.

37Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, Joab’s ride-or-die, fr.

38Ira and Gareb, both Ithrites, just chillin’ together.

39Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven squad members in total, that’s bussin’.

KJV: 2 Samuel 23

1Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

2The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

3The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

4And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

5Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

6But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

7But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

11And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

14And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth–lehem.

15And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, which is by the gate!

16And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord.

17And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

18And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

19Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

20And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

21And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.

22These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

23He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
