Gen Z: 2 Kings 7
Elisha was like, "Yo, listen up! The Lord's got a word: Tomorrow, a vibe check says fine flour's gonna drop for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, right at the gate of Samaria."
Then a dude who was tight with the king was like, "No cap, if the Lord opened windows in heaven, could that even happen?" And Elisha replied, "You’ll see it with your own eyes, but you ain't gonna eat any of it."
Four lepers were chilling at the gate, and they were like, "Why are we just sitting here until we kick the bucket?"
They said, "If we go into the city, there's a famine and we’ll die there. If we stick around here, we die too. So, let’s roll over to the Syrians’ camp; if they save us, cool, we live; if not, we just die."
They got up at twilight and headed to the Syrians’ camp, and when they got there, it was empty, no one was around.
The Lord made the Syrians hear chariot sounds and horses galloping, like a whole army, and they were like, "Bet, the king of Israel hired the Hittites and Egyptians to come at us."
So they bounced in the dark, leaving their tents, horses, and donkeys behind, just running for their lives.
When the lepers got to the camp, they hit up one tent, feasted, and snagged silver, gold, and clothes, then hid that stuff. Then they went to another tent, did the same, and hid it again.
They were like, "This is sus, we can't just sit here. Today’s a day of good news, and we’re keeping it to ourselves. If we wait till morning, something bad's gonna happen. Let’s go spill the tea to the king’s crew."
So they went and called the city gatekeeper, saying, "We checked out the Syrians' camp, and it was empty, no one there, just tied-up horses and donkeys, and tents still set up."
He called the porters, and they told the king's house what was up.
The king woke up at night and said to his servants, "Let me tell you what the Syrians are up to. They know we’re starving, so they dipped from the camp to hide in the fields, thinking they can catch us when we come out."
One of his servants was like, "Let’s grab five of the leftover horses in the city; they’re just like all the Israelites left here. Let’s send a squad to check it out."
They took two chariot horses, and the king was like, "Go see what’s popping."
They chased after the Syrians to the Jordan, and the whole way was littered with clothes and stuff the Syrians ditched in their rush. The messengers came back and told the king.
The people went out and raided the Syrians' tents. So, fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, just like the Lord said.
The king put the dude he leaned on in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him there, just like the man of God said when the king came down.
And it happened just like the man of God told the king, saying, "Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, will drop tomorrow at the gate of Samaria."
That dude answered the man of God again, "For real, if the Lord opened windows in heaven, could that happen?" And Elisha said, "You’ll see it with your own eyes, but you ain't gonna eat any of it."
And it went down just like that: the people trampled him at the gate, and he died.
