Gen Z: 2 Chronicles 29
Hezekiah started his reign at 25, and he ruled for 29 years in Jerusalem. His mom's name was Abijah, daughter of Zechariah.
He was straight-up doing what was right in God's eyes, just like his dad David did.
In his first year, first month, he opened the Lord's house doors and got them fixed up.
He gathered the priests and Levites, bringing them to the east street, no cap.
He said, "Yo Levites, time to get right and clean up the Lord's house, get rid of all the bad vibes."
Our ancestors messed up big time, did some sus stuff in God's sight, and turned their backs on Him.
They locked up the porch doors, turned off the lamps, and didn’t even burn incense or offer sacrifices to the God of Israel.
That’s why God was mad at Judah and Jerusalem, giving them some serious trouble, like you can see for yourself.
For real, our ancestors fell by the sword, and our fam—sons, daughters, wives—are all in captivity because of this.
I'm feeling it in my heart to make a deal with the Lord God of Israel, so His anger can chill out on us.
Yo fam, don’t sleep on this: the Lord picked you to vibe with Him, serve Him, and bring that incense game strong.
Then the Levites popped up, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah from the Kohath crew: and from Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: also from the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:
And from Elizaphan’s squad; Shimri and Jeiel: and from Asaph’s crew; Zechariah and Mattaniah:
And from Heman’s fam; Jehiel and Shimei: and from Jeduthun’s squad; Shemaiah and Uzziel.
They gathered the squad, got their vibes right, and showed up, just like the king said, to cleanse the Lord’s house.
The priests hit up the inner part of the Lord's house to clean it out, bringing all the messy stuff they found in the temple to the court. The Levites took it to toss it out in the Kidron brook.
They started on day one of the first month to cleanse, and on the eighth day, they hit the porch of the Lord: they sanctified the house in eight days; by the sixteenth day, they were done.
Then they went to King Hezekiah and said, "We’ve cleaned up the whole house of the Lord, the burnt offering altar, and all the stuff with it, plus the showbread table and its gear."
Plus, all the stuff that King Ahaz ditched during his wild times, we’ve prepped and cleaned up, and now it’s all ready at the Lord's altar.
Then Hezekiah woke up early, gathered the city leaders, and rolled up to the house of the Lord.
They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven goats for a sin offering, all for the kingdom and Judah. He told the priests, Aaron's fam, to pop off and offer them on the Lord's altar.
They took out the bulls, the priests caught the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar; same with the rams and lambs. Blood went everywhere on the altar, no cap.
They brought the goats for the sin offering in front of the king and the squad; they laid their hands on them, vibes.
The priests took them out, made things right with their blood on the altar, atoning for all Israel 'cause the king said to do burnt and sin offerings for everyone.
He set the Levites up in the Lord's house with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, just like David, Gad the seer, and Nathan the prophet said. Lit command from the Lord through His peeps.
The Levites were vibin' with David's instruments, and the priests had the trumpets, straight fire.
Hezekiah told them to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When that popped off, the Lord's song started too, with trumpets and David's instruments.
Everyone was worshipping, the singers were singing, and the trumpeters were blasting; all this went down until the burnt offering was done, periodt.
When they wrapped up the offerings, the king and everyone with him bowed down and worshipped, fr.
Plus, Hezekiah and the princes told the Levites to sing praise to the Lord using David's words and Asaph the seer’s. They sang with joy, bowed their heads, and worshipped, goated vibes.
Hezekiah was like, "Y'all have leveled up for the Lord, so come through with those sacrifices and thank you vibes for the house of the Lord." The crew brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; everyone who was feeling it brought their fire offerings.
The squad brought mad offerings: 70 bulls, 100 rams, and 200 lambs—straight fire for the Lord.
And there were 600 oxen and 3,000 sheep ready to go.
But there weren't enough priests to handle all the burnt offerings, so the Levites stepped in to help until the job was done, since they had more rizz to get holy than the priests.
The burnt offerings were lit, with all the good stuff from the peace offerings and drink offerings for every burnt offering. The service at the Lord's house was on point.
Hezekiah was vibing, and all the people were hyped because God set them up right—everything popped off real quick.
