Gen Z: 1 Samuel 24
So, Saul got back from chasing the Philistines, and someone told him, "Yo, David's chillin' in the wilderness of En-gedi."
Then Saul grabbed three thousand of the best homies from Israel, and went to find David and his crew on the goat rocks.
He rolled up to the sheep pens, where there was a cave; Saul went in to take a breather, while David and his squad stayed in the cave's shadows.
David's crew was like, "Ayo, today’s the day the Lord said He’d hand your enemy to you, do what you gotta do." So David got up and sneaked a cut from Saul’s robe.
But afterward, David felt kinda guilty for cutting Saul's robe.
He told his boys, "No cap, I can't do this to my master, the Lord's chosen one, like, he's the anointed dude."
So David kept his crew chill with those words, and they didn’t jump on Saul. But Saul came out of the cave and kept moving.
David popped outta the cave and yelled after Saul, "My lord, the king!" When Saul turned around, David bowed down to the ground.
David asked Saul, "Why you listening to the people saying I'm out to get you?"
"Look, today your eyes saw that the Lord put you in my hands in the cave; some peeps wanted me to take you out, but I didn’t. I said, 'Nah, can’t hurt my lord, he's the Lord’s pick.'"
"Plus, my dude, check it, I got your robe piece in my hand; I didn’t kill you, so know there’s no bad vibes from me, and I haven’t sinned against you; yet you still wanna take me out."
"The Lord’s gonna judge between us, and He’ll handle me, but I won’t lay a hand on you."
"As the wise say, bad stuff comes from bad people, but I’m not gonna be that."
"Who’s the king of Israel chasing after? A dead dog? A flea?"
"So let the Lord be the judge, and see what's up, plead my case, and save me from your hands."
"And when David finished saying all this, Saul was like, 'Is that you, my son David?' And then Saul started crying."
"He told David, 'You’re more righteous than me; you’ve done me good, while I’ve done you dirty.'"
"You showed today how well you treated me; when the Lord put me in your hands, you didn’t take me out."
"Like, if someone finds their enemy, are they gonna let them go? So the Lord bless you for what you did for me today."
"And now, for real, I know you’re gonna be king, and Israel’s kingdom is gonna be yours."
"So swear to me by the Lord you won’t wipe out my family after me, and you won’t destroy my name from my dad’s house."
"David swore to Saul. Then Saul went home, but David and his crew went back to their hideout."
