Gen Z: 1 Samuel 22
David dipped out to the cave Adullam, and when his fam heard, they pulled up to him.
Everyone who was stressed, broke, or just over it, showed up to him; he became their leader with about four hundred guys.
Then David bounced to Mizpeh of Moab and asked the king, "Can my parents chill with you until I figure out what God’s got planned for me?"
He brought them to the king, and they stayed there while David was in hiding.
The prophet Gad told David, "Don’t stay here; bounce to Judah." So David left and went to the forest of Hareth.
When Saul found out David was spotted, he was chilling in Gibeah under a tree with his spear, and all his crew was around him.
Saul said to his squad, "Yo, Benjamites, is the son of Jesse gonna hook you up with fields and vineyards, making you all captains?"
"Y’all are plotting against me, and no one’s telling me that my son is tight with Jesse’s kid, and no one cares that my son stirred up trouble, like, for real?"
Then Doeg the Edomite, who was in charge of Saul's crew, said, "I saw Jesse's son coming to Nob, to Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub."
He asked God for him, hooked him up with food, and gave him Goliath's sword.
Then the king called for Ahimelech the priest and all his fam, the priests in Nob, and they all came to him.
Saul said, "Yo, son of Ahitub," and he replied, "Here I am, my dude."
Saul asked him, "Why you plotting against me with Jesse’s kid, giving him bread and a sword, and asking God for him so he could rise up against me?"
Ahimelech replied, "Who’s more loyal than David, your son-in-law, who does what you say and is straight-up honorable?"
"Did I start asking God for him? Nah, let the king not blame me or my fam; I knew nothing about this."
The king said, "You’re gonna die, Ahimelech, you and your whole fam."
The king told his guards, "Turn and kill the priests of the Lord; they’re with David and knew he was running but didn’t tell me." But the king's crew wouldn’t touch the priests.
The king said to Doeg, "You turn and take out the priests." So Doeg turned and killed the priests, slaying 85 who wore linen ephods that day.
He wiped out Nob, the city of priests, with the sword, taking out men, women, kids, and livestock.
One of Ahimelech's sons, Abiathar, escaped and ran after David.
Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the Lord’s priests.
David said to Abiathar, "I knew it when Doeg was there; I caused the death of your whole fam."
"Stay with me, don’t be scared; anyone after my life is after yours too, but you’ll be safe with me."
