Gen Z: 1 Kings 18
So like, after a minute, the Lord hit up Elijah in year three, saying, "Go flex on Ahab; I’m about to send some rain vibes."
Elijah dipped to show himself to Ahab, and fam, there was a major famine in Samaria.
Ahab called up Obadiah, the head honcho of his crib. (Obadiah was low-key scared of the Lord, no cap.)
So when Jezebel was out here taking out the prophets, Obadiah stashed a hundred of them in a cave, hiding them in groups of fifty, feeding them bread and water. Straight up savage.
Ahab told Obadiah, "Go check the land, hit up all the water spots and streams; we might find some grass to keep the horses and mules alive, so we don’t lose all our crew."
They split the land to search it out: Ahab went one way solo, and Obadiah went another way solo.
As Obadiah was on his grind, boom, Elijah ran into him, and he recognized him, fell on his face, and was like, "Yo, are you my dude Elijah?"
Elijah said, "Yup, it’s me; go tell your boss, ‘Elijah's in the building.’"
Obadiah was like, "What did I do wrong that you wanna hand me over to Ahab to get wrecked?"
As the Lord your God lives, there’s no nation or kingdom where my boss hasn’t sent to find you, and when they said, ‘He’s not here,’ he made them swear they didn’t find you, fr.
Yo, you’re saying, “Go tell your boss, Elijah's in the house.”
So like, when I bounce, the Spirit of the Lord’s gonna ghost me somewhere I can’t even vibe with; and when I tell Ahab and he can’t find you, he’s gonna be mad sus: but I’m lowkey scared of the Lord since I was a kid.
Didn’t my dude hear about how I saved a hundred of the Lord’s prophets when Jezebel was on her savage spree? I hid them in a cave and kept them fed with bread and water, no cap.
Now you’re saying, “Go tell your boss, Elijah’s here,” and he’s gonna be like, “Nah, I’m gonna end you.”
Elijah’s like, “As the Lord of hosts is lit, who I’m vibing with, I’m definitely gonna show up to him today.”
So Obadiah dipped to meet Ahab and spilled the tea; Ahab went to link up with Elijah.
When Ahab saw Elijah, he was like, “Are you the one causing all this drama in Israel?”
Elijah’s like, “I ain’t causing no drama; it’s you and your fam for ditching the Lord’s commandments and chasing after Baal, fr.”
So send out the invites and gather all of Israel at Mount Carmel, plus the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of the groves who munch at Jezebel’s table.
Ahab sent the word to all the peeps of Israel and rounded up the prophets to roll out to Mount Carmel.
Elijah rolled up to the crowd and was like, "How long you gonna be wishy-washy? If the Lord's the GOAT, follow Him; if Baal's your vibe, then go with him." But the crowd was silent, no cap.
Then Elijah told them, "It's just me, the last prophet for the Lord; meanwhile, Baal's got 450 peeps backing him."
"So, let's get two bulls; you pick one for yourselves, chop it up, lay it on some wood, but don’t light it. I’ll do the same with the other."
"Call on your gods, and I’ll call on the Lord. The God who answers with fire is the real deal. The crowd was like, 'That sounds lit!'"
Elijah told Baal's prophets, "You guys pick your bull, get it ready first since you’re a whole squad. Call on your gods but don’t light it up."
They grabbed the bull, prepped it, and started calling on Baal from morning till noon, yelling, "O Baal, hear us!" But it was dead silence, and they jumped on the altar they made.
At noon, Elijah started roasting them, saying, "Yell louder! Maybe he’s busy, on a trip, or just straight up sleeping and needs to be woke."
So they screamed even louder, cutting themselves like they do, till the blood was pouring out.
By the time noon passed and they kept going until the evening sacrifice, there was still no voice, no response, nobody caring.
Elijah said to everyone, "Come closer!" So they gathered around him, and he fixed up the Lord’s altar that had been wrecked.
Elijah grabbed twelve stones, matching the twelve tribes of Jacob, and God was like, "Israel's your name, no cap."
He built an altar with those stones for the Lord and dug a trench around it, big enough to hold some serious seed.
He stacked the wood right, chopped the bull, and laid it on the wood, then said, "Fill four barrels with water and drench the sacrifice and wood, fam."
He was like, "Do it again." They did it again. Then he said, "One more time." They went for it a third time.
The water flowed all around the altar, and he filled the trench with water too, straight up.
When it was time for the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet stepped up and said, "Yo, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, show everyone today that you're the real God and I'm your servant, doing all this on your word."
"Listen up, Lord! Let the people know you're the Lord God and that you've turned their hearts back, periodt."
Then fire from the Lord dropped down and burned up the sacrifice, wood, stones, dust, and even the water in the trench, straight savage.
When the crowd saw it, they fell on their faces and were like, "The Lord is the God; the Lord is the God!"
Elijah told them, "Catch the prophets of Baal; don’t let any escape." They rounded them up, and Elijah took them to the Kishon brook and took care of business there.
Elijah told Ahab, "Yo, get up, eat and drink; there's a vibe of a major rainstorm coming."
Ahab went to chow down and chill. Elijah hit the top of Carmel, laid down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, no cap.
He told his servant, "Go check the sea." Dude went up, looked, and said, "There's nada." Elijah was like, "Try again seven times."
On the seventh try, he said, "Yo, there's a tiny cloud rising from the sea, like a dude's hand." Elijah was like, "Go tell Ahab to prep his ride, or the rain's gonna catch him."
Meanwhile, the sky was dark with clouds and wind, and it started pouring hard. Ahab dipped out to Jezreel.
The Lord's power was on Elijah; he tightened his belt and sprinted ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel, fr.
